Lost Town

Originally known as Halmond Vale, the Lost Town was where the original expedition from Snowmelt had their first run-in with Zidane and Siddel Haradul. The entrance to the town is through the old gate, which is actually a portal. Walking through the portal, the heroes were met with some resistance, as if the air was repulsing them a bit. Once within, the town was stuck in a perpetual loop, with townspeople introducing themselves and forgetting their introductions only moments later. The party explored the tavern, where Theydrin discovered that magic and elves were unwelcome in the town, as the townspeople started chanting “magus demon” after he cast a minor cantrip. Upon leaving and re-entering however, his transgression was seemingly forgotten. The townspeople were also impressed with the stone craftsmanship of a “short sword”, leading the party to believe the town was from the extremely distant, nearly prehistoric past.

Upon the hill, outside the town proper, sat the burned out ruins of the governors manor. In the manor, the party found a diary, written in Dignaran, along with the Water Clock. The party manipulated the water clock, and found that turning it up or down would change the scene within Halmond Vale. In the “upright” position, the town appeared pleasant and the people proceeded through their routines. In the “upside-down” position however, the party witnessed Zidane and Siddel massacring the town.

Each time the party left the town, they experienced a bout of time dialation, similar to the one they experienced in the Library of Kings. Objects removed from Halmond Vale aged thousands of years as soon as they were removed, but returning the items to Halmond Vale had no effect.
